The Story of the Blue and White Ginger Jar
It’s hard to let go of special things. The things we collect and have in our home remind us of experiences and of people in our lives.
In the 1970’s my mom, her sister Betty and my Grandma went to Farmville, NC at the Colonial Inn Restaurant for lunch. Jsut down the street was a jewelry store. Inside we spotted a blue and white ginger jar that mom loved and a green and white one that Betty loved. Grandma bought these for each of her daughters to give to them as gifts.
Years later, it became a great model for paintings and here are the three paintings I did with the vase in it. All of them have found their forever homes, and so continues its purpose of making more family memories. By the way, “Sunflower Morning” now belongs to my mother. For her it means a reminder of a moment in time that will now last forever through a work of art. Do you have a special piece that you would like to capture in a painting? I would love to collaborate with you.
